My Dad Thought He Could Fix Anything With Duct Tape

Dad proudly held up a roll of duct tape.

“This,” he said, “can fix absolutely anything.”

Mom smiled. “Really?”

“Absolutely.”

When the TV remote stopped working, Dad wrapped it in duct tape.

“It looks stronger already.”

“It still doesn’t work,” Mom said.

“It’s emotionally stronger.”

Later, a kitchen chair started wobbling.

Dad wrapped tape around every leg until it looked like a silver mummy.

I sat down.

The chair squeaked… then collapsed.

Dad looked at it and nodded.

“Well, now we know it needed more tape.”

Mom handed him the broken chair.

“Or maybe it needed actual repairs.”

Dad grinned.

“That’s Plan B.”

Moral: Duct tape can’t solve every problem—but it can make the problem look determined.
